That is very amusing. Unfortunately the Chinese authorities have no sense of humour. At the risk of being a little racist, most Chinese would not see the funny
sides to that.
In Australia it seems that the Chinese Embassy organised and paid for Chinese student demonstrators to turn out in Canberra when the Olympic Torch Relay came visiting. There were many of thousands of them bused into Canberra [and given flags] to be the pro-Chinese demonstration. Lack of sense of humour is catching because the Australian Federal Police did not see the funny side of that. Nor did the Federal Police see the torch guards as amusing either. On the day, the orders given by the Australian Police to the torch guards were much more explicit and understandable than than ones that the Australian Prime Minister had given. The Australian Police made it physically clear to the Chinese guards where their place in the parade was. How anyone can claim to be shocked that there are protests about the Chinese human rights performance, I do not know. |
